And the fact that this happened entirely because he conducted a sudden electoral raid on parties to Likud's right is unlikely to hurt him internally, whatever other consequences it may have.

Could anyone in Likud mount a coup? I doubt it, he has done better than expected. Better than expected yesterday, but worse than expected for the last 2 years...

Likud well ahead in actual results at present www.votes20.gov.il/nationalresultsI'm told one can right click to translate, but my right click button is faulty, so I can't confirm.

Lieberman's mob are doing better than I thought they would from those figures.

You need to know where's being counted before reading much into those.

Atid Ehad seem to have picked up 37 votes out of the 1.8 million counted so far. I'm assuming the Addis Ababa precinct has yet to report.

Not great, no. Though it has got *slightly* better in the last couple of minutes.

I always knew Israeli polls were rubbish. Had no idea the exit polls could be so bad! On figures announced so far Likud could even make a coalition with just Haredim and Kahlon. That would be exactly 61 seats!

Looks like a bit of a repeat of UK '92, with shy Likudniks.

Great result, congratulations to Likid and I hope they can bring security to the people of Isreal. I think he should start this by being very conciliatory towards the Israeli Arabs he slandered during this vote.

A reminder of why Israeli politics is so depressing.

Now that Israel has explicitly rejected the 2-state solution, the future hold for the peace process doesn't look good. I think the EU has to seriously look at a set of trade and diplomatic sanctions against Israel as a response.

Great result, congratulations to Likid and I hope they can bring security to the people of Isreal. Well they have failed dismally to do that so far, so why should they start now?

The entirely raison d'etre of Likud is to keep the Israeli populace permanently alarmed...and therefore get re-elected.

So, coalition time. Presumably we are talking: Likud 30 Kulanu 10 Jewish Home 8 Shas 7 YB 6 UTJ 6 Total, 67 seats
Opposition: ZU 24 Joint List 14 Yesh Atid 11 Meretz 4
I don't see Lapid going into Government this time.
