Johanna Baxter, a Labour Party NEC member, has reported via Twitter the death of Helen Morrissey, Labour councillor for East Walworth ward in Southwark since 2010.

I wonder what the electorate of East walworth is now. It was alread the lowest in Southwark by May 2010 but I think that was before all the residents of the Heygate had moved out so its probably lost a fair few electors since then (mostly Labour voters I would guess, of the probable minority who voted at all)

Well, there are another two waiting to be called in Scotland where we're not having PCC elections, so they could be called any time that month. And there's likely to be a couple on the 22nd/29th where the vacancy arises just too late to be called for the 15th.

To have the Uig & North Lochs by-election on 29 November, it will have to be called by next Monday. Unless anyone knows different, I don't think the expected resignation in the Borders has been formally submitted yet so there is technically no vacancy.

I have just spoken with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and they have confirmed that the by-election in Village ward has NOT been called for 15 November - a date has not yet been fixed.

I believe 10 signatures have been collected to force a by-election in the Altofts ward of Normanton Town Council.

This also happened in August, with a result of Labour 68%, Ukip 32%.

Don't have a date for it yet.

There are two other Parish elections in Wakefield on that date, one for Badsworth Parish Council and one for Middleton ward, Sitlington Parish Council. Wouldn't expect either of those to be politicised. Although I'm a bit surprised that they're taking place in the first place, so who knows..

Labour councillors on Shitlington Parish Council got alot of stick over supporting a plan to place wind terbines near Overton.

Uig & North Lochs is going ahead on 29 November with 3 candidates contesting it.

The SNP candidate stood in the Sgire an Rubha ward in May which is the ward in which he resides. Slightly surprised that Annie MacDonald wasn't the party nominee again since she was a sitting SNP councillor. I dn't know if that's another victim of NATO policy or some other reason.

The two independents both live in Balallan so no candidates from Uig. I understand the count will be held on Friday 30 November.
