Is it too late to withdraw yet?

Nominations closed. I think it turns on when he "resigned" from the board of NHS Fife.

There was a similar case with umpteen jobs Bob in the Bromley by election one of which was due to be abolished but did not allow him to stand for parliament .

Factually untrue as most of the attacks against umpteen jobs Bob were instigated by a Labour blogger from Kent whose name escapes me for the moment . It is interesting too that Mr Neil factually broke electoral law as his nomination was invalid at the time it was submitted and accepted .

He held a lot of jobs. Unlike homophobia promoted by the press in Bermondsey that was perfectly a fact the public were entitled to be asked about. As it happens they said they were happy. Just.

In my experience, almost all SPADs have worked harder and done more than most people with a "real" job. I don't know why in politics, being a happy amateur who has done something else all their life is seen as a positive quality, not a reason someone is vastly inexperienced for the job. Happy Amateurs don't make better politicians. Just look at the quality on most Town & County Councils in this country.

I'm not sure that the comparison is valid - town and county council posts are part-time jobs rather than full-time ones, and the barriers to entry are massively lower than they are for higher office.

Would the OMRLP Candidate in that election like to explain what a 'mega-booliak' is? Even more of a booliak than an average booliak.

Interesting experiences in Dunfermline so far. No one at all on the doorsteps is mentioning Walker, in any canvassing I have done and it seems to be the standard for everyone so far. Interesting that the Lab literature seems to have changed tact away from the early stuff which was just hammering on about this. Suspect they may be picking up that this isn't an issue as well?
My canvassing has been quite mixed and hard to judge which way the wind is blowing, but I have spoken to other friends who are very experienced canvassers who reckon their canvassing results in Dunfermline so far are better than anything they were getting in Donside.
SNP conference this weekend and we're running buses twice a day to and from Perth to keep up momentum. Have an idea that it might be closer than folk think.

Back off thread. Pedants' Corner strikes once more - Bob Neill. Did you actually invent the term "booliak", John Loony?

I think the turnout will be quite depressed, as I get the feeling that people are getting a bit fed up with being canvassed constantly. Often getting folk saying they've had canvassers around several times in the last couple of weeks, from all parties (and being a bit annoyed).
I have also had a few folk saying they will vote UKIP as well, which I never had in Donside. Maybe they're just a bit more open than they were in Aberdeen.
Yet to find anyone who supports independence, though - they must be out there! Maybe they were all out canvassing?

I always find that weird. I've always found, the people who complain about being canvassed and leafleted too much during an election, are the same people who if you canvass them when it isn't an election, complain that they never hear from politicians when it's not an election.
There's just no pleasing some people.
