Let's go for Aitken vs Somerville producing a surprise Lib Dem gain Speaking of which, perhaps Jenny Dawe could be persuaded to go for the LibDem nomination?

So who is on the shortlist as things stand, then? Cara Hilton, Lesley Laird and Fiona Yates. And as there is a by election in Cara Hilton's ward that day I think that would lessen her chances of being selected, so who has got the most buddies between Lesley Laird and Fiona Yates nee Eady, have to opt for the Eady's in this one.

Confirmation from SEC meeting today in Glasgow that dunfermline will be all women shortlist. (Which was drawn up today), with hustings tomorrow.
Since the deadline for applications was Thursday 12th, how could there be a previous shortlist?

Labours candidates quote from the Herald. All are from political families. Hilton, 38, who works for Dunfermline's Labour MP Thomas Docherty, is the daughter of former Falkirk MSP Cathie Peattie. Yates, 43, is the daughter of Cowdenbeath MSP Helen Eadie. Her husband Gavin is also a Labour councillor, and her grandfather was a Labour MP.
FFS - absolutely no chance of an ordinary punter becoming a Labour MP these days, its not what you know or believe but who mummy or daddy is.

Not necessarily, convention is that she would stand own at the next council election, and would not be eligible for the councillor allowances. Jayne Baxter, who succeeded John park on the list is also a Fife councillor.

No selections for 2016 have started yet. That will happen once the last of the Westminster seats have selected, some time in the new year.

Although Scotland has always had more of a taste for the dynasty than other parts of the UK.

Be fair. Caithness has only represented by the Thurso family for about eight generations.

Look at the many Ewings, along with the various husband and wife teams. I suspect that much of Scottish politics, like Welsh politics, is very local and many families are well-known. Maybe even a throwback to the old clan system in some ways. I don't see a problem with families having a long history of public service, elected or otherwise. Except the Fitzgerald-Kennedys - I have always struggled with the sense of entitlement that members of that vast family seem to carry with them. Unfair I suppose, but it does jar.

Potential Green candidate is great, unfortunately she's unlikely to get the support needed to be heard.
