I remember helping in the August 1997 Cleadon and East Boldon by-election which was a safe hold for us. Sadly, South Tyneside hasn't had the organisation even when we were doing better nationally. Might be interesting with the UKIP candidate which should help Labour.

I have just found an error in LEAP's record for Southway. Although the 2006 result shown above is the one shown on Plymouth City Council's website for the May 2006 elections (and always has been such according to archive.org), it is in fact the result of a June 2006 by-election. The May 2006 result in Southway was C 1400 Lab 1371 LD 712 according to this Grauniad article.

I shall correct LEAP tonight.

Rutland- Haven't a clue who Mr McGilvray is. Mr Brookes, meanwhile is a former Oakham town councillor, and ...erm...well, he's currently not allowed to attend county or town council meetings, or attend the election count, as conditions of bail. ( from the Rutland Times)

There is a town council election in Fosse Ward, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire too. A straight Tory/Lab fight. It forms part of the Ravenhurst & Fosse district seat, that was the subject of a by-election this time last year.
