West End will be interesting.
The Mayor’s power grab on Oxford Street planning and transport matters is unlikely to go down well here.

GOOD NEWS They are ALL counting on the night after polls close Someone is thinking of the psephologists for once. Hopefully we have all the results through as well some councils seem to delay them to in the morning. Which annoys me because what is the point of counting on the day and not releasing the result not just for us but wider public/supporters

Talk of Eynesbury (which is in the St Neots area) brings back happy memories of pints of the wonderful Paine’s EG, a long-gone ale which was brewed in St Neots. EG stood for both Extra Gravity and Eynesbury Giant, the local giant IIRC being called James Toller. According to Seller and Yeatman, the authors of 1066 And All That, St Neot invented whisky.

Just out knocking up in Soho. Not the normal polling day experience.

Just out knocking up in Soho. Not the normal polling day experience. In what way is it different from normal? Lower turnout? Higher? More frenzied anger and resentment against all parties? More people than usual wearing hats?

I guess people in Soho are more used to being knocked up.

I feel like Reform should be able to pull it off in Hartlepool, and the Lib Dems in St Neots. Not sure if any of the others flip.

I was in West End delivering yesterday. Finished and then, having passed the store twice, while finding appartments, popped into Selfridges to do some shopping. Quite a ward.

Canvassing & knocking up in the West End is a different experience because there are so many rather impenetrable blocks and often dwellings are quite a long way apart because so much of it is commercial rather than residential. I've canvassed in the West End for the 2018 local elections, with Ben Bradshaw who was visiting. In a normal knock-up you might be given say 3 or 4 streets, perhaps only one or two if they're quite long roads, in the West End I can see one knocker-up being given loads of different streets.
