So Labour has held the two seats which were forecast to be extremely difficult for it to hold.
Tomorrow we have the count iin the seat which Labour was expected to hold.

Maybe they could have a chance of winning if there's another Dunblane and Bridge of Allan by-election in future.

I am scandalised, shocked and quite frankly appalled… aren’t we all anticipating a surprise win for an independent candidate in Islington??

Labour’s Councillor resigned under mysterious circumstances. I think Labour will come third. I base that on leaflets circulated. I’ve delivered more I’m pretty sure. Shreya is based in Barnsbury I think. There are parallels to Praful Nargund. He was also based in N1. I’m more local than Labour’s parachutee. Even though I live in Haringey! Albeit I live on the border. We have free movement with Islington!

I think Labour will come third. Behind whom? Behind both independent candidates quite honestly. I may yet eat my words. I probably will eat them, ultimately. Islington North Labour is not popular. Corbyn swept the seat last month. The enthusiasm for local Labour ebbed. Steadman's resignation and the swirling rumours. Someone compared him to Huw Edwards. When I canvassed Highcroft Road estates. I can neither confirm nor deny. But that's not a good look. Objectively, it's not a good look.

Labour however manage to pick up the dregs and crawl over the line. Desperate stuff. But, such is STV.

Then there was another 1.4k votes on top of that for parties completely economically and constitutionally opposed to the Conservatives. This is a local election and I don’t like the system either, but I really don’t think he (the Tory) can feel too hard done by.

Perhaps if he had been more popular, he may have won.

It was a Bridge too far.
Back to Islington, who was worst? The poster who criticised my flat. They lambasted it - "butt ugly" right? Well, we worked hard to buy. So they can actually piss off.

Mildly gutted this morning to wake up to Plaid having lost Bargoed & Aberbargoed by one vote! Labour 354, Plaid 353. The first count was all square, the recouts found one for Labour

And I didn't appreciate it really. Surely you can see my point. I know it's not that pretty. It's the best we could afford.
