Back to Hillrise, street canvassing on Hazelville Road has paid dividends with many voters stopping to chat and excited by the policies like improving the Archway Road Steps, turning Archway Methodist hall into a community asset, and supporting the independent MP. Let’s do this!

It doesn’t take a month to deliver them. It takes a month to write them. You win - I’ll photocopy the rest. Nooooooooo, Say it ain't so. Another political giant crashed and burned on the rockface of electoral expedience. I remember an expert and sage saying recently that people hated printed leaflets. Are there no heroes anymore? (BTW, what does 'photocopy' mean)?

I might still not photocopy them, but my wife and sister haven't got much time to help with leaflets. I also enjoy the experience of writing them in italics with felt tips.

My plan for Hillrise
1) Legal cannabis 2) Fix Archway Road steps for local residents 3) More local assets 4) Back the local MP 5) Stand up to Labour

I will lobby the Labour council to persuade the Labour Health Secretary to enact it. Given that Islington has given Labour many MPs over the years, maybe Labour should give something back?

You'll be lucky - I don't think it was in the Labour Manifesto and Wes Streeting has got more important things on his desk, like stopping the NHS collapsing.

Preventing Labour from reversing Brexit not featured in the plan?

Would the tax revenue and savings from law enforcement etc. not be helpful in that regard. I don't think axing the fuel allowance was in the Labour Mainfesto either.

No, but if we're arguing it's good for the revenue it brings, given the government's priority is to sort out the public finances with a level of haste, then it's far easier for Reeves to cut winter fuel payments (which I do not support her doing for my part) than kicking off a whole procedure to legalise cannabis in a sensible manner.

If you want to influence Labour Party policy the logical thing would be to join. Unfortunately, you've made yourself ineligible for a minimum of 3 years

I advocate it be done for obscure libertarian reasons but the money for healthcare is a common reason you hear in support of it among people. In any event, kicking off a whole procedure to do it sensibly is not strictly necessary if the plans are left to the whims of an independent local councillor.

If this entire campaign turns out to have been an elaborate prank I might have to buy the man a drink. With my liberal hat on, legalising cannabis within the boundaries of a specific ward might be a great test case, tbh.

If the result is a couple of dozen votes for the 'campaign' it will of course have been a hilariously clever spoof campaign in the finest Oxbridge tradition. In the unlikely event of a win or close it will have been a hilariously clever strategic campaign in the the finest Oxbridge tradition. What we won't get is any intelligent reflection. Again, in the finest Oxbridge tradition.
