Until now I've only added byelections to the posted list once the SOPN is out, on the basis that plenty of parish byelections get cancelled due to lack of candidates. But if people are interested then I can extend the list to all scheduled byelections (but not to all vacancies!)

I am puzzled by the BBC news report linked above, which describes Darren Brown as a former Bridgend town councillor. He does not appear to have stood as a candidate in 2012 or 2017 and although he stood in Morfa town ward in 2022, he was not successful. Maybe he was co-opted at some point, or won a by-election.

Meanwhile, according to the Notice of Vacancy, today's by-election in Morfa ward is caused by the resignation of Fran Sullivan (Independent).

This one was an uncontested election, rather than a co-option. One nomination was received (see www.iow.gov.uk/council-and-councillors/elections/elections-management/parish-and-town-council-vacancies/), but I couldn't see any indication of who that nomination was.
