No surprise, Canford Cliffs is very affluent and easily the safest Tory ward in the conurbation. They were extremely lucky it was this ward they had to face a by election in.

When and where is the Hillingdon East by election being held? It is part of the area covered by the Hillingdon/Ealing seat on the GLA, if that helps.

Hillingdon East is a fairly extensive area mostly to the SE of Hillingdon tube station though there are some (mostly prosperous) bits on the western side of Long Lane, a fairly aptly-named road which runs for well over a mile from the south to the north of the ward (though it carries on into Ickenham for another mile or so after that). It reaches a little bit further SE than one might expect, and its south-eastern corner is a bit like parts of Hayes although that too has some fairly prosperous owner-occupied streets. It's predominantly owner-occupied but far from wealthy except for its far western fringes as a ward; Hillingdon West ward is far better off and has much larger houses, and has a longer Tory heritage. (In answer to your rather surprising question When, it was yesterday & I presume counting will be today. I am expecting a Con hold.)
