I'd have thought it was two electors from the relevant ward(s), but reading the Notice then you're right. It looks as though the same people can call more than one but not entirely clear. Surely that could be done walking down the High Street or knocking on a few doors.

I've arranged enough by elections to know about this and it's easy enough to arrange if anyone is inclined to do so. Most people will sign a request if you present them with a typed document and explain what it's about.

Catsfield in Sussex? Cat-ton Grove in Norwich? Cat-erham in Surrey? Meow-n Valley? Meowls in Southport? There used to be a Fulham councillor called Florence Pusey. She liked a bowl of milk after meetings, allegedly. There also used to be a Fulham councillor called Arthur Minute. 30 secs was his nickname, again allegedly. And Frank Ing. Worked in a mailroom. I'm wasted on this forum. I was most concerned to learn of the existence of the Catskill Mountains in New York. This is a man who has never watched Dirty Dancing.

Somerset, Blackmoor Vale (2027). [Unknown] (Liberal Democrat) has ceased to be a councillor. So far Somerset have just listed a third "Vacancy" councillor for this ward, without removing one of the real two. I presume Sarah Dyke has resigned. She is the (slightly less new) MP for Glastonbury & Somerton.
edit: just seen andrewp 's earlier post!
He's now been returned to the list of councillors.
Shetland, Shetland North (2027). Tom Morton (Labour) has resigned. Byelection on 23 Jan 2025.

Seems like an awfully long time to schedule an election for in over three months time from the date of the vacancy. Any reason for the extended time frame?

All I have is this www.shetland.gov.uk/elections-voting/upcoming-elections which despite setting the date mentions that the notice of election won't be published until 29 November!

Scottish by-elections have to be scheduled within three months of the vacancy. Looking into the matter, it appears that Morton's resignation won't take effect until the end of this month.

Seems like an awfully long time to schedule an election for in over three months time from the date of the vacancy. Any reason for the extended time frame? And that’s the only Labour councillor gone.

Well, that's two Green and SNP councillors - but the others are Independent. However, I think they will vote Liberal Democrat.

Milton Keynes, Broughton (2027). Kerrie Bradburn (Liberal Democrat) has ceased to be a councilor. Somerset, Rowbarton & Staplegrove (2027). Dixie Darch (Liberal Democrat) has ceased to be a councillor. Notable that Kerrie's father, who was a cllr alongside her, passed away last month. They represented different wards though so it won't be a double vancancy. This is interesting. I've seen that Kerrie Bradburn is standing down from her own seat on the city council in order to contest her late father's (as they were councillors for different wards). I understand her mother is also a councillor for the same ward as her late father, so should she be elected she can support her better. Has anyone else seen any examples of a by-election being triggered due to a councillor changing wards before?

In Southend a few years ago Paul Terry, councillor for Westborough stood down to stand in Thorpe Bay causing a by-election.

Bryan Sweetland (who is now the chairman of Kent County Council) resigned his marginal seat in Gravesham East, in order to contest the safe seat of Gravesham Rural, where a by-election had come up. He was elected on 20 December 2012 and still holds the seat. His previous seat in Gravesham East was covered by the 6-month rule
