Camden Labour's selections for the three byelections on 5 September have been revealed.

Camden Square (v. Danny Beales): Tricia Leman. Stood in the Highgate byelection in 2023.
Kentish Town South (v. Georgia Gould): Joseph Ball. Works for an executive search company.
Kilburn (v. Lloyd Hatton): Robert Thompson, previously Kensington and Chelsea councillor for Dalgarno 2014-19.

Is this the only single-member ward in Scotland?

I think the answer to this is yes, although they're not the only wards that make use of the exception to ward size under the Islands (Scotland) Act, as Shetland (one ward) and Na h-Eileanan Siar (six wards) have two-member wards.

Fr Robert Thompson - he is a star, a vicar who does excellent work. Anglo-Catholic CofE.

I suppose this is a good place to ask if there were ever restrictions on Church of England vicars being councillors and if so when were they removed? (It came up on the fictional elections thread in regards the Vicar of Dibley.)

Camden filing deadlines re 8/8 btw. No idea what Hackney timeline is. I asked about Stoke Newington for a friend and they didn't have nomination packs at that point.

Ironically enough I used to live next to London Fields ward too. (August 2022 to late 2023). I was in a right to buy hellhole with no living room on the Frampton Park Estate (which is lovely all things considered) on Well Street around the corner from the ward. I will campaign there, but it's unlikely to be for my own candidacy. I am trying to persuade a friend in Hackney to contest either London Fields or Stoke Newington. LF has a lot to offer and if you're there, visit Brat x Climpson's Arch for dinner - the fish is excellent. I don't know who Climpson was/is but they do have a shop with that name on Broadway Market and I believe there's Climpson's coffee.

CiW rather than CofE so it's not an Established Church, but Canon Bob Morgan - whose daughter was, of course, just elected as Welsh Labour's new leader - led the South Glamorgan County Council in the 1980s.

I noticed the name “London Fields” last week when I noticed it as the name of a railway station on my way back from Norfolk (it was a different route from my usual journey). I don’t remember noticing its existence before. It seems to be a ridiculously vague name/descriptionwhich presumably meant something more relevant hundreds of years ago.

Alan Billings was deputy leader of Sheffield City Council while also vicar of St. Mary's in Walkley where he was a city councillor. More recently, he was the last South Yorkshire Police Commissioner before it was absorbed into the Combined Authority.

London Fields station was where one used to get off to visit Hackney town hall in the days when one had to do that kind of thing to get election results etc.

Surely the most infamous religious minister and councillor of recent times is the Crystal Methodist himself.

When we lived in east Cleveland in the early 1980’s, our Langbaurgh borough councillor was the vicar of Loftus, for Labour. We contested the seat for the Alliance, putting up the rector of Easington, the village we lived in (not the Durham pit village), who was a Liberal, but the vicar held the seat.

Canon Andrew White, the high profile "vicar of Baghdad", was a Conservative councillor in Wandsworth for a while whilst an Anglican vicar.

It's not that vague. Look at a map of the ward and the 'Fields' are slap bang in the middle of it bounded by Richmond Road and the Blackstone Estate. It's a perfectly sensible name for the ward. Cambridge Heath on the other hand, well where is the heath? Is there a Balsall Heath still? I've never seen pictures of one. But no, don't shit on London Fields as a name - it's a great area and I liked living on Well Street for the time that I did. They had wildflowers in London Fields when I lived there.
