Is this seat seriously in contention for the Lib Dems? The user poll seems to think so, but they have an awful lot of ground to make up. It would lovely to see another chunk of yellow removed from the map. Any news from the ground? The SNP have been hampered by a lack of resources while the Lib Dems have done their carpet bombing of leaflets style campaign that they do in seats that they are aiming to win. They would not do that if they were not in contention.

And there's no incumbent in a part of the world where candidates are said to matter more than in most areas.

If the other half of Ross is called Easter Ross as in Caithness, Sunderland & Easter Ross why isn't Wester Ross used in this constituency's name? Is it simply a case of the Boundary Commissioners being inconsistent or is there a justifiable reason?

Lol. A friend has just suggested to me that it might be to avoid confusion with Westeros in Game of Thrones!

Technically I suppose CSER would be better named “East Ross” since it now covers far more of Ross-Shire than what is historically defined as Easter Ross.

This seat (as well as several others, including South Shropshire) will be a good test of forum knowledge v. the MRPs.

Although the SNP did appear to step up their ground game in the last week of the campaign, I'm going to stick my neck out here and say the Libs just nick this one.

This seat (as well as several others, including South Shropshire) will be a good test of forum knowledge v. the MRPs. Honestly I don't see the constituency polls on these threads as any more reliable than the predictions of individual seats from MRPs. There are certainly some people on here voting for us everywhere we are in contention - and even places where we aren't but on paper could have been we can get a fair few people expecting us to win. Winning here would to me be a very pleasant surprise and a sign that we are doing significantly better than I expect us to, although I wouldn't consider it a shock. I am saying that, though, as someone who last set foot in this constituency back when Kennedy was MP here.

Journalist Stuart Lindley reports that the Lib Dems believe they've won the seat. If this is true, this is by far the most impressive result of the night in Scotland as this looked like a likely SNP hold going into election day based on recent elections. Would reflect a very strong and effective ground game from the Liberal Democrats in this constituency.

From what I saw on social media, the Lib Dems were pretty optimistic and Davey visited this seat this week (but as he visited Caithness, he was in the neighborhood anyway)

I'm a little fuzzy around the edges - does he mean Saturday? Seems so. The returning officer is trying to resolve an "anomaly" in the votes.

presumably the anomaly is larger than the majority Basically there is a difference between the number of votes verified and those counted and he's not permitted to declare a result until this is resolved. No indication what the numbers are or whether it would be enough to effect the result.

Apparently both Lib Dems and SNP think this one is a Lib Dem gain.
