Is he related to Fred Trueman, whose mother's maiden name was Sewards? It's not a common surname

Apparently the Morley Borough Independents are putting up a candidate…
The last time the local elections were held on the same day as the GE, in 2015, they carried one Morley ward easily and were only 500 behind in the other, even on the higher turn out.
So a very solid showing is in order, potentially…
Apparently there has been a fall out between Andrea Jenkyns and the MBIs, who have usually been supportive at GEs…

It was already a plausible gain. The boundary changes reduce Jenkyns' notional majority, and of course even under the old boundaries it voted for Balls in 2010. The MBI Facebook page has a post indicating that they are intending to stand.

The new boundaries are more favourable to Labour, as Tories will have no data for Farnley & Wortley… and they’re losing the two Wakefield wards, one of which is normally Tory leaning, the other Labour.
I’d be surprised if Labour failed to gain it ordinarily but with the addition of the MBI, ought to be a fairly decent majority.
Who knows what the MBI might poll, 5000 at least you’d think.

Who knows what the MBI might poll, 5000 at least you’d think. It's all very well voting for a Local Party for Local People to stand up for your town on Leeds council; it's a different matter in a Westminster election. I think they won't do as well as they think they will.

Yes… Labour would carry F&W with ease, given that Mark Sewards is at least partially responsible for turning it from a Green stronghold into a ward with three Labour councillors with decent majorities. Labour’s vote in Ardsley is fairly steady, any spoiler/other candidate tends to affect the Tories, MBIs could pull 500-1000 here. Meaning Jenkyns would have to carry Morley in a big way, which isn’t happening if MBIs stand, unless all their vote came from Labour, which I’d say is highly unlikely.

What is going on here then? Pointless. There is a Reform UK candidate. She will lose.

What is going on here then? Pointless. There is a Reform UK candidate. She will lose. In some ways it reflects the reality of half of the modern Tory party - its leader IS Nigel Farage even if he isn’t technically one of them. Where he goes they follow like demented little sheep
