Wasn't John Kerry on the receiving end of the same game?

Wasn't John Kerry on the receiving end of the same game? Aye Kerry won three purple hearts and was accused of dodging action by supporters of a draft dodger.

Mercer better have very good grounds for his accusations. Otherwise the lawyers are going to be rubbing their hands...

A controversy arising from last night's hustings: I have to say that I don’t understand what Johnny Mercer was saying in his statement, and that I do understand what Fred Thomas was saying in his.

Situations like this are exactly the sort of thing s. 106 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 was created for.

Labour Party now admitting that Mercer was correct - blaming the Guardian for the mistake even though the story is on Thomas's website.
Funny that this story has come out on the same day as the Chief of Northamptonshire police was sacked for lying about his military service

I thought that in the film clip Fred Thomas was in person claiming stuff about his military service that Mercer was disputing - I don't see what the Guardian has to do with it.

I still expect Johnny Mercer to go full on David Mellor if / when he loses on election night.

Yes it will be interesting to see if this saves him. It’s a tall order given political developments here the last year or so

If he loves wars so much as he appears to do, why doesn't he bugger off to fight in one e.g. Ukraine and give the rest of us a break?

I still expect Johnny Mercer to go full on David Mellor if / when he loses on election night. I like Mercer and I hope that he’ll survive, but I fully expect him to rant. I also fully expect him to come back and regain the seat if he loses.

Not that many, but one notable example was John Amery, older brother of Julian Amery and older son of Leopold Amery, both long serving Conservative MPs.
