Meanwhile, in an unexpected turn of events, Corbyn has secured the endorsement of *checks notes* his wife:
Which one? The one he is currently married to, as one can ascertain by the use of "wife" rather than "ex-wife".

A noticeable contrast to the current leader of the Opposition, whose spouse has been kept away and hidden and seemingly has no political views.
Political views of spouses are important I'd say. I mean, what if a spouse did NOT support their partner campaign and thought another party would be a better choice? Wouldn't that be noteworthy?

I really don’t want spouses involved in policy decisions, it destroyed Johnson’s reputation with much of the right.

We have a personal franchise in the U.K. I assume my wife voted for me in 1992 but I don't know for certain. Because it's her vote, and none of my business. And certainly not anyone else's.

Was there not a case in Denmark (or possibly Norway) where the PM's spouse was an opposition MP? [OR am I thinking of Borgen!]

One of the rare occasions she did go public was to express her opposition to anti-Semitism and support for Israel. (to avoid doubt, support for its right to exist and defend itself - not uncritical backing for Netanyahu's every act)

He was a Social Democrat, she was a Social Liberal (and had served in the cabinet of his predecessor!)

I've now seen as many Labour posters in this seat as we used to have pandas in Edinburgh Zoo - two.

Surprisingly few, one would imagine in a voter population of 80,000 there would be at least more than two who don't mind advertising support for someone who is very keen to accelerate the privatisation of our NHS.

Can't be a coincidence that the targeted ad on this page is for Specsavers.

Peter Mandelson was out canvassing here. He reckons Jezza is going to lose (Times Radio).

Yes as his IVF business is aimed at covering what would not be offered by the NHS. That's if I've understood your post. I've asked my wife now what is not covered by the NHS, she is a sister senographer at Jessop fertility. She says all effective fertility treatments are available on the NHS. The only things they don't offer is what isn't proven as effective. There are treatments that patients can request that the NHS don't offer due to the lack of evidence in being an effective fertility treatment. In that case they can pay for it

Thanks for the clarification.
