Karol Sikora blocked me on Twitter a long time ago for pointing out that he was falsely using the title professor. Since then he has become a professor at the rather eccentric private University of Buckingham.

Well no, because he called himself a Professor (and specifically at Imperial College, where he had no ties) for a long time when he wasn't one. Then suddenly he was in the limelight and a lot of attention was drawn to his claimed academic title, and that's when the University of Buckingham stepped in and appointed him as one.

Based on what I've heard about their campaign I still think the Conservatives have a chance here.

This area is quite dilapidated and there's a lot of voters who will switch to Reform as well as Labour. I think it's a three-way marginal. Nothing 'Great' about Yarmouth though. LAB 36% RFM 30% CON 27% OTH 7%. We need to encourage more short-haul holidays and ban easyJet, Ryanair etc to help the area.

Voted at about ten past eleven and was told that I was the 200th voter at the polling station. I asked if I'd won anything but just democracy, apparently.
In total we had seven leaflets and a knock on the door from Labour, two flyers from each of the Tories and Reform, and one from the Lib Dems; also a form letter from Hope Not Hate asking us to vote for whoever was best-placed to defeat Reform.

Is the new Reform MP Rupert Lowe very rich? He's promised to give away his MPs salary every month to a different local good cause every month. yernemuth has this been noticed locally?

I think that was in his literature, of course he made the same promise when he ran in Kingswood. (https://www.reformparty.uk/kingswood-constituency-by-election). I couldn't tell you to what extent people are aware of that, but he's quite active on Facebook and I imagine he'd highlight donations there.
Edit - £4k to Great Yarmouth Town FC.

Yes, I can imagine knowledge of these donations will start to trickle down.

Maybe I’m over reacting but do we really want to go down such an obviously patrician road?

Ironically it isn't that different to the old Militant line of a workers wage for a workers rep, and handing the rest over to certain chosen causes.

This result throws up a question. How many MPs have been Chairmen of top flight football clubs? I know Geoffrey Robinson was Chairman of Coventry City but I don't think that was when they were in the Premier League.

Jack Dunnett was (I think) chair of Notts County when they were in the old First Division.
