Had Labour selected here before Poulter's defection?

Had Labour selected here before Poulter's defection? Not that I can see. Surely even with an incumbent MP this would be too much of an ask though?

Had Labour selected here before Poulter's defection? Yes, and considering he's not standing for re-election I would assume the existing Labour selection stands.

I'm more of a crumpets man myself... but will Mr Craig eat the Tories for breakfast here?

How could a Labour candidate have advanced knowledge of the election if only a handful of close Sunak advisors knew until literally a couple of hours prior to the announcement? At which point, ofc, the speculation was rampant and we all knew it was coming.

At which point, ofc, the speculation was rampant and we all knew it was coming. What seems to have happened, and it’s credible, is that a small number of people knew a couple of days in advance of the announcement. They then shared this information with mates - “here’s a dead cert” - who put bets on a little later. The data shows a later wave of bets. Quite how a Labour candidate featured in the circle of mates is anyone’s guess, but not everyone operates their personal circle of friends on a partisan basis.

Comments suggest that he's placed a bet on winning his own seat.

At which point, ofc, the speculation was rampant and we all knew it was coming. According to Sky he bet upon the outcome in his constituency. Is that illegal? Pretty sure candidates have done that before and the, sometimes hefty, winnings have paid off their election expenses. I suppose you could have 'inside knowledge' with canvass returns and postal ballot totals but not always accurate.
