One of the few really good things to have happened this century and one I give thanks for every day. Good for who or what? And please don't answer with something about Spitfires or "standing on our own two feet". Good for the 52% (i.e. the majority of the people) who voted for independence.

We were already a fully independent and sovereign country. As are all those internationally recognised states that remain members of the EU.

As I was saying guys…
Of course all sorts of threads drift into other conversations that are off-topic or only slightly linked so I’m not trying to suddenly police that. But it’s well known that Brexit debates can drag on and even become quite contentious, and I’m conscious some members will want to discuss the European Elections actually happening in here rather than the ones that won’t be happening!

This reminds me that I need to confirm my voter registration here in Spain.
It will be the 3rd country I've been eligible to vote in for these elections after Sweden (2019 & 2014) and the UK (2009).

I did try with the opinion poll post to adhere to the instructions of stb12 to remain on topic!

Germany is going to be an interesting one as the lack of a hurdle will probably cause some strange figures. Prediction: watch the Freie Wähler. They're polling ahead of Die Linke and FDP in recent polls. As are the BSW.
The PES Spitzenkandidat will be current commissioner Nicolas Schmit from Luxembourg, whose previous claim to fame involved one-time backbencher Xavier Bettel accusing him of trying to use his ministerial role to persuade police to not charge his son with criminal activity.
For Renew, it is Valérie Hayer, who appears to be a generic Macroniste.
For the Greens, it's Theresa Reintke of Germany and Bas Eickhout of the Dutch GroenLinks.

Which groupings would Freie Wähler and BSW be affiliated with?

What have they got to do with the EP elections? You're a Conservative. Do your colleagues round there not put Spitfires on their fundraising raffle tickets? They did round here.

I think it’s a WW2 aeroplane. Maybe I’m too old fashioned
