Your final sentence has an ambiguity. Someone other than you Someone other than your preference Someone other than the one chosen? as I recall, it was nothing to do with Richard directly, nor the failure to select those who Richard might have preferred, but the selection of those who were chosen in their stead. I feel his pain.

This fervent desire to believe that a man must be a kiddy fiddler simply because you despise his politics is perhaps your most socialist trait.

This fervent desire to believe that a man must be a kiddy fiddler simply because you despise his politics is perhaps your most socialist trait. Hmmm! Your very own personal Morton's Fork Boogie. A slur on me and on socialism, and on each within terms of the other, thus damning me and damning socialism by poisoned contiguity. That wasn't nice old fellow, nor was it fair. You assume that I would stoop to a false assertion of abuse merely to blacken the name of a politician I did not like. Do you really believe that of me? If not I feel I am owed an apology. I lived right through the Heath era and remember all of what was freely known, much gossip and scurrility, the inventions/discoveries of Private Eye, the first and second hand observations of associates in the Conservative Party and the Press. Out of all that I came to the conclusion that there was no need for the massive amount of activity and rebuttal and close-down by a small department of people at Central Office if there was nothing at all to hide. He was a strange and complex character and many of us had suspicions at the time based on rafts of rumour, some of which was very unpleasant indeed. I have no evidence but I do have what I regard as genuine suspicions based on some of those second and third hand accounts from people who were not scurrilous and very concerned. It is not as if we have no evidence of such activity at the high profile cases now in full view? I did suspect Savile and Heath 'at the time' but had no inkling about Rolf Harris.

I may have improved your knowledge but perhaps not your manners?

Georgie Ramsay, Labour candidate in Whitfield ward Dover has joined UKIP. It is a two member ward where UKIP only has one candidate listed.

It is extremely unlikely that she will be elected but regardless of that UKIP would be wise to refuse membership to an individual that has shown such an appalling lack of integrity.
