Does anyone have a list of all the councillor defections to UKIP that have happened over the last few months?

Unless I have missed it there doesn't seem to be one from Labour.
Who do Labour people usually defect to?

It would be hard to imagine why any Labour person would want to join UKIP when their ideas are so diametrically opposed. Locally, I can think of one former Labour councillor who ended up in UKIP but that was after his deselection, and given that he always styled himself as being on the left of the Labour party, it wasn't taken very seriously

Do you not remember a former Liverpool Ormskirk Labour MP called Robert Kilroy-Silk? Fixed that for you... Was he a lefty though, I always thought he came from the Trident school of Labour rightists? He tried to come over as a lefty when he was first elected. More so when he was a lecturer in Politics at the University of Liverpool. He once claimed in a TV interview that he would be leader of the Party within ten years. Other MPs counted this down "only five years to go", "only four years to go", .....

One thing that will certainly help make defections happen is newspaper reports like this on the front page of the Telegraph /photo/1The circumstances are currently ideal for encouraging defections from Tory to UKIP. I suspect quite a few Tory councillors have been thinking about defecting but most of them, like most people, like to follow the crowd. They don't want to be seen to be the only ones doing so. Media reports like this one will therefore encourage more defections, will will result in more media reports, which will mean in turn more defections. In the first four months of this year there were 23 councillor defections to UKIP. Given that was before UKIP showed it could actually regularly win local council seats and before getting 15-20% poll ratings I expect the number of defections in the upcoming period will be significantly higher than that.

I would think the Scotts may go that way, don't think Chris Edge will. Not sure if Richard Chellew has actually quit the Tory group or not, yet.

[/b][/i][/i] Surely you're not suggesting that defections could be influenced by personal electoral interests rather than matters of deep principle?

Defections from the Tories to UKIP in Wales could send their remaining seats to Labour
