Who will come 2nd? Reform or the Tories? ;-) Or maybe even Mr Peter Bone.

Quite obviously, people who choose to sign the petition are qualitatively more significant than people who choose not to or never gave it a moment's thought. That said, a great many of those who signed to recall petition did so out of tribalism as opposed to any merits of the petition.
I say this as one who regards allegations of bullying in a political context as the whining of the socially inadequate and the revenge of the useless.

I hope Peter stands in this ridiculous, misbegotten and scurrilous by-election caused by the usual suspects of malignity and toxic nastiness. And I hope that he wins with a crushing majority over the twerps that oppose him.

If Bone stands , he will split the Tory vote and seriously weaken any challenge mounted by Reform.

If no writ is moved in January, it will suggest that Sunak is seriously considering a May GE.

If I was in charge of the Labour campaign here, I'd be worried tonight that only 13% signed. That's a pretty low turnout in the circumstances. Will they be able to turn out enough people in a winter by-election? I'd be asking Santa for Peter Bone to stand....

It probably won't be a winter by-election. March looks likelier

The Tories will not allow Bone and probably an independent as it's likely there now will a new Tory candidate. With Bone, Tory and Reform with three right wing candidates, Labour likely to do better.

Is it possible Bone will be the Reform UK candidate?

I’m surprised that the % of people signing wasn’t nearer 20%.
If this by election happens, Labour will win it easily and it will be proven again that Reform aren’t very good at getting real votes

It would be interesting if he stands as an independent (or dare I say it as one of Reclaim, Reform et al) how many of the local Tories he takes with him. How many of the people who know who to run a campaign, use the electoral role, run direct Mail splits etc. Labour could still win (or come damn close) given the higher profile a by-election will have weather in Feb, March or on 2nd May compared to the petition we’ve just had.

Oh here we go. He's exactly the sort of bully who will now do all he can to re-write the rules so this can't happen again. It's always certain types who don't like being brought to task.

Is it possible Bone will be the Reform UK candidate? Wouldn't put it past him. "Reform" being the party of people who don't want reform, they want to rewind.

I get it. You strongly believe that useless people ought not to be told they are useless. And like Baroness Mone, you have neglected to declare an interest.
