A lot of IND votes were up for grabs there then! Greens did a great job in doing that it seems I’m surprised the Greens won that given they had a candidate who lived quite a way away ( in Weston) and is very young I think. Suspect that means they could have won easily with a different candidate. Good sign for them that they can still win with, on paper, not the strongest candidate.

I don't doubt that their Social Media warriors will post about turnout, as if that explains away another loss, but the General Election looks very bad for them in the Central Belt.

Well yes, but the usual caveat of reading too much into national elections from local election results

Actually, I was wrong, the SM warriors are calling Labour baby-killers. That is what they are calling those who voted for Labour in this byelection. This is why they will lose.

Well yes, but the usual caveat of reading too much into national elections from local election results Except when they are confirming the parliamentary byelections across the UK, especially in Rutherglen and Hamilton West.

The winning candidate, Thomas Daw, lives in Congresbury which is only just outside the ward and is a parish councillor there. He is however, in his early twenties and did stand in Weston-super-Mare in May.

I am not surprised by the Green win and was only .3% off in my prediction, based on my extrapolation of what went on this last May in the general election in North Somerset

None of the candidates lived in the ward - the Green didn't give an address, but I see someone else has said he's from Congresbury, whilst the Tory was from Yatton and the LD from Nailsea...

Labour win at stage 7 in Motherwell Actually elected at stage 6 under Rule 55 (overall majority) of which the computerised counting system is blissfully unaware.
