You know thats not what I'd like to see happen, but its hardly the fault of Scottish Labour. I agree however that we are finding it difficult to get anything that has traction with voters at the moment. The referendum is something to talk about - and is something the majority of people agree with us on. I'm not sure its inspiring enough to see us through to victory in 2016. Having said that, theres 3 years to go, and internally the party is more united now than we were in 2011. The petty partisanship between you is both your fault, although certainly helped by the fact in many policy areas there's very little to differentiate each other on. Exactly. Late 2014 -> May 2016 gives the SNP a fair buffer in which to either utterly destroy themselves or prove us all wrong and continue on. Although by this point they'll have been in Gov. 9 years and there must be some scandals waiting in the wings.

Anyway, isnt it about time for us to have a Dunfermline thread for endless speculation?

As a former Chair of School Governors, to have an unauthorised adult on the premises would be considered a remarkable breach of the rules, not least because such a high profile visitor would create some disruption. To not tell the Head is bizarre behaviour and I can't believe such a thing could have happened. I once chased the leader of the Council from the school as he hadn't had the good grace to tell the staff he was coming (he was Labour).

I don't recall ever reading of a non political public servant using terms as blunt as "ill-considered, inappropriate and ill-informed" to describe the conduct of a cabinet minister - then releasing the letter to the press. The only comparable thing I can recall is the Doctor that sent Cameron and the media packing from his ward last year, citing the hygiene risk.

A further piece of local news, in no way related to the SNP shedding 14% of their vote I am sure, but I will put it here local.stv.tv/aberdeen/news/231191-police-are-probing-an-act-of-vandalism-at-aberdeens-marischal-college/ to get maximum viewing figures, is that the City Council HQ was spray painted with the words "Ye Have Not Yet Done What Ye Ought". Now who knows what that refers to or who might be responsible, nor why it is phrased in some form of dialect, but when I have been merrily predicting outbreaks of Nat graffiti and reporting Mark McDonald taking the oath in dialect, the coincidence caught my attention. Looks more like "King James Bible" dialect than Doric. It doesn't say " .. fit ye ought".

Unless Salmond gets so fat he qualifies for his own polling district, no.

God, I can't wait till the referendum. (Not that I recognise it unless the rUK gets the same question) With the greatest of respect, whether you recognise it or not is an absolute irrelevance.

'Black Panthers for Independence' launch in Aberdeen. Giving the traditional black power fist salute,Mark McDonald explains that Black African-Americans are flooding to the Yes campaign in droves. "We're confident that come next September, a majority of black African-Americans will be firmly supporting us, as evidenced by the strength of feeling here tonight".

It is common for politicians to visit schools. Indeed I think Tony Blair may have launched 2 General election campaigns from a school in Southwark. One would not expect the local council to be informed of it.
BUT
Doing it without the Head Teacher being aware is not just crass but appalling. It was done on the invite of a parent (what I assume we would call south of the border down England way) governor. I am unclear what right they have to bring an unknown (even if famous) person onto the premises but I would guess it is zero. If I were told that Nick Clegg had done this I would describe it as bloody stupid and possibly not just in private.

To be fair I don't think our Nats are cybernasties here. Ailean (is she here) for example always comes acrosss a civilised. And our host. It may of course be scale. There are not enough of the heavy duty types here.

It keeps their morale up and they do like the blood sport which probably demoralises some opponents from posting again which means another story may not get an anti Nat comment at all.

People say cybernats are obsessive but some here seem a wee bit obsessed about them. I've often felt that 'cybernats' get far more political attention than is really merited. They're pretty much up there with the Illuminati and the Brotherhood as far as I'm concerned, yet the likes of Iain Gray apparently feel the need to deliver speeches about them.
