What is the general platform of the Yorkshire Party?
Centre-left regionalists or something else?

What is the general platform of the Yorkshire Party? Centre-left regionalists or something else? Their main argument is for a Yorkshire Parliament.

Anybody on here know what’s happened to the Wakefield & District independents? There has been nothing on their Facebook page since the last elections and I have noticed that John Thomas who stood in Altofts and Whitwood last year, is the Reform UK candidate for the next GE in Pontefract,Castleford and Knottingley assuming it’s the same person of course. So John Thomas is standing for the W&D independents group for Altofts, but is down for Reform UK’s candidate for PCK. Not sure what’s going off there with him standing for two different parties.

He’ll lose his deposit standing for Rewind, as will almost all their candidates.
Really not sure why they’re bothering, with the same people who couldn’t get candidates elected 10 years ago for UKIP still involved, like Paul Oakden.

If he gets the “Brexit Party vote” from 2019, then he could do “ok” and would get more then the 5% required to get his deposit back. Getting elected however, yes, pretty much impossible at the moment. Just interesting that he’s not standing for Reform UK in the locals, when he is in the upcoming GE, that’s all. He did stand for Reform UK in the 2021 locals. I am assuming it’s the same person of course and there isn’t two John Thomas’, but I doubt it.

We’ve already left the EU though… I don’t think the vote will transfer from Brexit Party to Rewind. To be honest, I think they’ll do spectacularly badly in the GE. They’re just being ramped up to try and pull Sunak further to the right, those wanting withdrawal from the ECHR and the Rwanda scheme to start. If Farage returned they might poll reasonably in a GE but Tice could put a glass eye to sleep, and is hardly representative of the sort of voters that they seem to want to target.

I get and understand what you mean, but I still think he’ll save his deposit by at least getting the 5% needed.

Got an email from the Council's Election office yesterday reminding all candidates and agents not to make false statements on election leafets under the Representation of the People Act. Something must be serious as this has never occurred in the 30 odd years that I have been involved in Wakefield politics.

I wonder who the row is between... not that many seats in Wakefield have much potential to be competitive this time?

I wonder who the row is between... not that many seats in Wakefield have much potential to be competitive this time? Airedale: Labour/ Independent Wrenthorpe: Labour/ Independent Knottingley: Labour/ LD Wakefield South: Cons/Labour Wakefield Rural: Cons/Labour Those are the only battles I can see. I could throw Ossett in there too after no knowing how many votes Cons would have got last year, but can’t see it being other then a Labour victory.

I wonder if Theo Biddle is involved with it all. Just looked at his Facebook page and he’s put a comical video up ranting how the LD councillors there have done nothing for the area over the last 4 years. I think it’s fair to say the LD councillors in Knottingley have been pretty good there and may even have given Tom Gordan an MP’s job in Harrogate if things fall into place for him at the next GE. (Yes he’s no longer a councillor in Knottingley, but you know what I mean)

(Yes he’s no longer a councillor in Knottingley, but you know what I mean) Theo has the cheek to claim that he as a Labour candidate he is fighting for new sports facilities for Knottingley when infact it was his own party that closed down the sports centre. Hypocrisy at its very worst.
