Is five candidates with surnames beginning with "W" a record? It’s a good job I’m just the agent and not the candidate then!

He was a very prolific tweeter of absolute nonsense. A complete gobshite. He was certainly full of his own self importance on Twitter as a "councillor" . When I pointed out that he was a parish councillor to a parish council that still had vacancies to fill ie no one had actually elected him at the ballot box , he was none too pleased.

That fits with putting "Cllr" as part of his name on the nomination form. (Has anyone seen that before?)

Sounds like much the more entertaining of the two quasiYP candidates.

Sounds like much the more entertaining of the two quasiYP candidates. 🍿 It does question why the Yorkshire party didn't get their act together and actually have a candidate on the ballot paper..

Mike Jordan (an Independent on the ballot paper) was announced by the YP beforehand as their candidate, they do not yet appear to have clarified what has happened there.

According to someone on Twitter, the Independent candidate Nick Palmer (full name Nicholas Stuart Hiley Palmer) is the grandson of Joseph Hiley, Tory MP for Pudsey from 1959 to Feb 1974.

This would suggest that the missing Yorkshire Party description on the SOPN is simply a mistake, either by the party or by North Yorkshire Council.

That clears things up. I think he should now be regarded as a Yorkshire Party candidate.

This is one illustration of why it is rather unwise to enter the Prediction Competition too early in the proceedings, in my opinion.

Some good expectation management at this stage by Labour if the Observer report is anything to go by. Anything other than a Labour gain would be a major surprise the way the national polls are going now.

I'm wondering if Jordan submitted his nomination papers as an Independent before the Yorkshire Party adopted him. Or maybe he failed to fill in the description and party emblem page correctly which is why he is listed on the ballot as "No Description".

Or maybe he failed to fill in the description and party emblem page correctly which is why he is listed on the ballot as "No Description". The tweets quoted above indicate that he did complete the emblem part correctly, so that will be on the ballot paper: he will have no description in words but a Yorkshire Party emblem.
