We have various political group subfora which people refer to as rooms. Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, Green, Nationalist (Plaid, not the NF). The denizens of each room set the criteria for access: the blue room (Conservative) generally lets in right leaning people, the red room (Labour) need you to be a confirmed member or supporter (with international allies welcome, I think that's right) and so on. Each room discusses what it wants: I've got no idea what goes on in each one as I don't look (I'm the only person who can see all of them). Generally you can only be in one at a time (some people are in both the Conservative and Brexit/Reform rooms,) and although there isn't an officially defined cooling off period, I would be reluctant to add someone straightaway to a room if they'd just left an opposing party. There might be some crossover between the Greens and the Nationalist room given the Plaid/GPEW alliance and the SNP/SGP situation but as far I know no one has ever asked. I wonder if the red room let in people who registered their support solely to vote for Jeremy Corbyn... Unlike in the blue room, you need to have an actual red avatar to get access to ours. People who stop identifying as Labour lose the ability to post. You don't need actual party membership though, just seeing yourself as a supporter.

The big problem with a non-aligned room is that most of us don't have any crossover with each other. As a label, it's a political dustbin isn't it?

There'd probably be quite a resemblance to independents in local government. Except that on this forum we let the people who look like the stereotypical independent councillor into the Blue Room.

The big problem with a non-aligned room is that most of us don't have any crossover with each other. As a label, it's a political dustbin isn't it? Easily solvable. We can have a non-aligned room for those who want it. Those who don't can have a non-non-aligned room.

I wish neither to associate or indeed dissociate myself from anyone who claims not to be either aligned or indeed non-aligned from current or previous events that may or may not be worth paying attention to, the outcome of which can be displayed in either a positive or dispositive manner… right?? In fact, may I dis-align myself from the non-aligned, or should I instead align myself with the positive dis-aligned movement, the likes of which inherently associate with the intrinsically flavourful cool crew. Oh wait, what?!?
