Well done to rightleaning for taking the lead in the month, with just one (awkward) prediction to go!

Well done to rightleaning fr winning the week and taking the lead in the month, with just one (awkward) prediction to go! I believe that was before the last result was added. It’s well done to iainbhx for winning the week. rightleaning is indeed ahead for the month though.

Goodness, what does Richard know that the rest of us don't about Paul McInnes?

I don't know anything about either Independent candidate, which is why I predicted the same percentage for both of them. I've been wondering why most people have predicted more for IndR than IndM.

unless we have info (including where they've stood before, where applicable) it is pure guesswork & luck.

10 entries for the final by-election of the year, all on time and correct. I'm happy to accept the first of John Loony's predictions given the late faults the amended version would've incurred. Incidentally the initial version was closer! Normanby, Redcar and Cleveland: 100% Labour hold, with majorities ranging from 7% (kevinf) to 32% (Richard Cromwell). Results are available at - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wWD15aAxqwWqII4yA26awILjOpP3xUujT1PQ-kWyw-o/edit?usp=sharing - congratulations to andrewp for the monthly win and commiserations to rightleaning for being pipped to first. Thanks to everyone who has taken part and made the competition good fun over the past year. If there are any watchers who want to join in then January will be a great start - you'll be most welcome. Hope everyone has a great festive season and see you all in a couple of weeks.

Everybody got this final contest of the year wrong, but in particular hardly anyone seemed to foresee the LibDem vote basically disappearing. Which just shows how tricky this prediction business can be, and indeed why I prefer to remain an observer rather than taking part myself
