I have long taken it to be an absolute 'Given' that is their total status on everything most of the time. Largely now fat plonkers with rainbow laces, smiling at Albanian criminals and serving tea the gormless protester arseholes glued to the road. Fat, useless, unfit for any purpose. Maybe we should always take that as our given starting poinr and let them prove that they are right? Surprised they have time for such an investigation when there are pensioners to push about for not wearing masks, Albanians to be helped, protesters to be serviced, and innocent home dwellers to be assaulted mob-handed because of some light-hearted tweet. Default position being the police are always in the wrong until they demonstrate otherwise. I can understand your attitude to the police, but what has that got to do with the fact that a local council by-election has been won by an Ashfield Independents candidate rather than any other party candidate? Whilst finding carlton even more of an offensive twit than usual (very low bar), the connection is that Zadrozny and five Ashfield Independent Group councillors were arrested last week as Andrew notes in his Preview “they suspect Zadrozny of fraud, money-laundering and misconduct in public office, with some of the other councillors also under suspicion of perverting the course of justice and electoral offences.”. Given the usual large number of postal votes in these by-elections, I would hazard a guess that the effect on the result may have been minimal as a large chunk of the vote will have been returned pre-arrest (another reason for following places like the US and Australia in allowing postals to be returned for some days after Election Day).

The culprit links to their plagiarism on Twitter as @green_Elects but doesn't seem to have stolen any content since the 3rd of November. ·

Possibly, just possibly the police are lying bastards and made it all up? They have decades of form of doing just that as we all know. Or they have been put up to the investigation by by certain political elements for well known political reasons. Never overlook the obvious! We are well past the days when we are prepared to believe what they say has any contiguity with the truth.

You appear to be overlooking the obvious possibility that there is in fact some smoke and the police have concluded this means there's a fire.

The culprit links to their plagiarism on Twitter as @green_Elects but doesn't seem to have stolen any content since the 3rd of November. · I have seen some reviews for the Green Elects pieces. Pravda said "Жил-был король когда-то, при нём блоха жила" - it stinks. Izvestia said "Я иду туда, куда сам царь идёт пешком" - it stinks. MGM bought the film rights and renamed it "The Eternal Triangle", with Caroline Lucas playing the part of the hypotenuse

Louise Hill, local journalist, is doing a superbly detailed job of reporting on the Isle of Wight count. If you're on Twitter go give her some recognition for it!

Sutton, Bassetlaw Labour 301 Tory 224 Lib Dem 12 Excellent result for Labour in this ward. Actually, I would go further and say a remarkable result in a ward Labour have never won since its creation, never even come close, even when Labour comfortably held the constituency. I am beginning to think Labour could regain this seat at the next GE, which I thought unlikely after the last election (at least for a couple of cycles).

Sutton, Bassetlaw Labour 301 Tory 224 Lib Dem 12 Excellent result for Labour in this ward. Indeed. A local candidate with some valuable experience helps but I suspect Tory divisions about their candidate had more weight.
