I predict that Gyles Brandreth will be the Conservative candidate and will get 85% of the votes in the by-election. Is he even still a Tory member?

Utterly ridiculous and overblown bit of he said, she said by the look of it. That Standards Commissioner really needs to go. There needs to be consistency. And MPs need to remember not to make passes at their staff as there is a power imbalance there. I don't see that principle changing. But for a potential consensual relationship someone has to make the first move
Obviously it always depends on what is being said and done but I'm not sure i'm comfortable with simply making a pass being unacceptable, provided any rejection is accepted immediately with no resentment, harassment or change in treatment

This is probably the best time for an opposition MP to stand down in acrimonious circumstances.

A four week suspension is, in a way, substantial - but for ‘serious sexual misconduct’? Or is it that if you’re suspended that long it’s a hint for you to go? Not quite sure why this is only on deeside.com but here you go...
Obviously unwanted / forced kissing or fondling is unacceptable. I'm not sure walking someone to a bus stop or inviting them on a getaway should make up a case of sexual misconduct. (I will say in caparison to Neil Parish this is a few multiples worse)

I think we've been told that there are some more of these, haven't we?
The place had/has some pretty unattractive features (well, some liked them, to be fair!):
late night working and socialising distant families, often not sharing the "excitement" of the Westminster world subsidised alcohol available most of the time the typical personality faults of MPs - big egos, entitlement poorly-paid aspirational young workforce excited by seeming proximity to their goals
These aren’t specific to the case here of which I have no knowledge (though I know Matheson slightly through a family connection).

I would say there is a good chance Labour select a woman candidate for this one, given the circumstances.

The age of "it was only a touch of the hand" is over.

I'm not seeking to minimise the problem of men making unwanted advances, but I'm glad I don't have to worry any more about whether something I might say or do could be misinterpreted - one of the few advantages of being old.

I'll be supporting Sam(antha) Dixon as succeeding Labour candidate here.

(I will say in caparison to Neil Parish this is a few multiples worse) Parish must be rueing the day that he took an office of profit. Everything since has been much worse. This doesn't condone looking at tractor porn, but he was unlikely to be expelled or face a recall, and even if he did he might have won a recall.

We seems to have moved into a society where men must never make advances, but women haven't yet caught up and realised that this puts the onus on them to do so. Cats for everybody!

I have read that helpful link and am astonished that now counts as 'serious'. When I worked in London all of that would be normal everyday conduct for a large minority of males and rather expected by many females and desired by many of them. No wonder we have a growing number of Incels. If men are warned off the course for such minor stuff, how does anyone 'get off' at all?

Woden's teeth! The Snoflakes of the world are now in charge. That was very pallid stuff and virtually every male I worked with has done that.
