The Stephen Canning I’m aware of was elected for Essex CC Bocking in a by-election on 5th March 2015. I don’t think he could have been a councillor as early as 2011 because he’s not old enough.

The Stephen Canning I’m aware of was elected for Essex CC Bocking in a by-election on 5th March 2015. I don’t think he could have been a councillor as early as 2011 because he’s not old enough.

LEAP says that he was first elected to the district council in 2011, standing down in 2019 and won a by- election to the county council in 2015, standing down in 2021.

EDIT: further googling would indicate that he was just 18 when first elected to Braintree council in 2011, which might account for your confusion?

I campaigned in a by-election in the Braintree constituency, but it was in 1989. Labour gained Kelvedon ward from the Tories helped by an Independent Conservative candidate.

The western end of New Malden, this is a ward I think I've only been in in a car along the A3 (the southern boundary) or on the train to Kingston (the north east boundary). Green Lane itself is in the middle of the ward and gives its name to a recreation ground at the edge of the ward. St James is the church at about the most south eastern point. How many wards are now named for local churches?

New Malden is the home of most of the UK's Korean population (both North and South) and once hosted the South Korean Embassy but I don't know how much of the community is in this ward.

my guess is that the highest concentration is in New Malden Village ward, but that there is a pretty high number in this ward & also Coombe Vale & Norbiton. I played at the sports ground you mention in April, for the Bricklayer's Arms cricket team against Kingstonian, but we were narrowly defeated (though we won 24 matches thereafter, a record for us). I hope to return next April.

I suspect there's some, but the number of Korean's registered to vote (they have to be naturalised UK citizens) is relatively small - although is going up as the community gets more and more established.

Oh! I didn’t realise he was already a District Councillor before he became a County Councillor in 2015. I only know of him because I met him in 2014. He was rather cute so I tried chatting him up for about a minute or two before I realised he was too talkative and hyperactive.
