Without betraying too many secrets, there's been some discussion in the yellow room on how our performance in recent weeks has been relatively poor, and in particular - like last night - concerns over the number of by-elections where we haven't put up a candidate. Some might be in the context of local deals and arrangements, particularly if it's where an anti-Tory coalition is running the council - but surely not all come into that catetgory You should be a bit happier with the candidate situation for 15th December - one SOPN still to come (Amber Valley), but of the other 5 contests, 2 are LD-Con straight fights and the other 3 are Con-Lab-LD only... It's like stepping back in time a couple of decades... The absence of a Green in the Ipswich contest is slightly surprising - given their past history, the others not so much. |
