Dead person turns out to still be alive

Over the years there's been various fanciful ideas about Hitler and/or Elvis not actually being dead.

I'd probably discount those two by now, but which well known personage, believed now to be deceased, do we think is the most likely to turn out to actually be alive?

And what impact could it have on things?

(My thinking is that a political or military figure from an unstable part of the world would perhaps be the most likely candidate for not actually being dead.)

If he had set up with a new identity, and was still alive, he'd have been living that 'new' life for longer than he was Lord Lucan.

The only way I can see something like this is if it's possible to survive going through a black hole/wormhole type thing and be able to sustain a life on 'the other side' for any length of time but without the ability to communicate.

Getting deep into sci-fi territory really.

And didn't they find a few bits of debris from the plane anyway?

It was certainly convenient for him to be dead. But I'm not convinced the establishment would fake his death and go to the effort of keeping him alive with a different identity for years and years, given how young he was at the time.

He'd be, what, mid-80s now if alive?

I have wondered about this one. Was he ever actually declared dead? Does it happen automatically after a time when someone disappears without requiring any actual evidence of death?
