With nominations formally opening in about a fortnight or so, it's our annual census to see how many members we can get elected. According to Wikipedia, the councils up for election on May 5th are: 32 London Boroughs, 33 Metropolitan councils (4 all up, 29 thirds), 60 District councils (5 all up, 6 halves, 49 thirds), 21 English unitaries (5 all up (2 new councils), 16 thirds), the City of London Corporation (held on March 23rd), 1 combined authority mayor, 6 local council mayors (1 new mayor), the Northern Ireland Assembly, 32 Scottish councils, 22 Welsh councils as well as town and community councils. In other words, not as Super Thursday as last year, but still an impressive list of councils. Therefore, let's get the show on the road as they say Harry Hayfield will be standing for Ceredigion County Council (Welsh unitary) in the single member Llanrhystyd ward for the Welsh Green Party (Result last time: Lib Dem 59%, Plaid 17%, Lab 14%, Ind 6%, Green 4%) as well as the Haminiog ward of Llanrhystud Community Council (seven members)

I'll be standing in Holbrook Ward Coventry. Last year's result was Lab 43%, Grn 35%, Con 16.5%, Coventry Citizens 4%, LD 1.5%, with the absolute difference between me an Labour being 325 votes on a higher than average turnout (due in large part to the regional mayor election).

Barring any surprise by-election, I'm a free agent as usual. (I hate getting my own nomination signatures and it takes time away from target-ward work, so prefer to just let someone else be a non-target candidate if it helps them feel more involved, regardless of whether they need help getting signatures themselves.)

I don't think that KK any longer has an account here, but his past status arguably means he still counts.
