As a diversion, as we've seen LondonExTory in another thread, VoteUK Candidates in action. Me today:
(Ok, well that actual picture is from 2015, but I was doing that exact patch today, in exactly the same weather, dressed exactly like that, but my camera wasn't working properly.)
I hope you weren't using the same leaflets, mind!

I hope you weren't using the same leaflets, mind! No doubt it was the same bar chart as well. Ah! Those far off days of on-the-street campaigning. Then the concept 'bar chart' had an entirely and so much nicer connotation. As a CAMRAman but non-photographer, I produced such charts for the team.

Wait a minute, your'e a Lib Dem council candidate, you post a picture of yourself, and there's no pothole in sight? Standards are slipping!

Oh John, I don't want to give too much away about who I am, but we have met on a number occasions over the last 20 years. I don't mean to be awkward or anything but isn't it a bit difficult to keep your identity secret while announcing you're standing as a candidate for a particular party and council?

I was shocked, shocked I tell you when in 2011 I was "outed" on this site (well, its predecessor) by somebody posting my result on here. How they linked up a Lib Dem from Crewe using "GwyntheGriff" with Gwyn Griffiths standing for the Liberal Democrats in a Crewe ward I have no idea.

It’s quite easy to keep it secret when “wallington” isn’t his real name, and there are 68 Green candidates in Croydon to choose from. I think that wallington has given enough clues about which ward he lives in, but not which one he’s standing in. Most candidates’ home addresses are not given on the SOPN. In other words, I don’t know who wallington is, and if he doesn’t want to tell me then that’s fair enough.

Seriously, my initial reply was ment in jest, and if anyone really wanted to work out my identity from my posts it can be done. I don't think I have to announce who I am though, and I don't expect anyone else to do so either.

My election agent just knocked on my door to deliver me my official candidate's badge for the count on Friday. I am quite excited! I haven't been to a count since 2003.
She is still winding me up that I might accidentally get elected. (Labour have IMHO under-nominated)

This is I imagine a Lib Dem badge as opposed to something that let's you into the count?

Also lets me in to the polling stations in the ward, if I was so inclined.

Well if your agent has time to go round handing out badges, I wouldn't have thought you have anything to worry about.

No the badges, candidate's, agent's, polling/counting agents if requested, for each ward all go the agent to dish out. Maybe picked up from the council offices, not posted. To be honest, I think the visit was just an excuse to tell me she had become a granny today!
