Standing in Druids Heath & Monyhull in Birmingham. Paper candidate! That's making a lot of assumptions! Though clearly our candidates for Moseley were selected long ago.

That's making a lot of assumptions! Though clearly our candidates for Moseley were selected long ago. It would be a bit odd for the Lib Dems to field anything other than a paper candidate in what's clearly a Green-Labour contest when they have plenty of winnable wards elsewhere in the city. If you're planning on an actual campaign you're starting months later than Labour and years later than us.

Barring any last-minute issues, my services will not be required this year. However, I can confirm that Mrs ColinJ will be the Labour nominee in Leavesden ward, Three Rivers District Council.

And continuing this recent run, I can confirm that I am now a duly nominated candidate for the Llanrhystyd county and community council (Haminiog ward) following confirmation by the deputy Returning Officer for Ceredigion

For my sins, standing in Croydon. Which ward? Oh John, I don't want to give too much away about who I am, but we have met on a number occasions over the last 20 years.

We're all friends here regardless of what team we bat for, so I'm posting this here:
If you submit a nomination paper, and it's rejected, and you need to submit a replacement set...
YOU NEED TEN COMPLETELY NEW SUBSCRIBERS
Everybody who signed the invalid nomination form stays on the system and can't sign the replacement form, as an elector cannot subscribe more than one form (for one vacancy) even if one of the forms is invalid.

YOU NEED TEN COMPLETELY NEW SUBSCRIBERS Everybody who signed the invalid nomination form stays on the system and can't sign the replacement form, as an elector cannot subscribe more than one form (for one vacancy) even if one of the forms is invalid. In the Croydon North by-election in 2012, three candidates went along the same street to get nomination signatures, and there were multiple duplicate signatures from the same electors. On that occasion, the R.O. decided to interpret the papers as having been not properly handed in (but only “informally checked”) and allowed the candidates to cross out names and add new ones. Practice probably varies a lot in different places according to how booliakterous and jobsworthish the R.O. is. In my 21 elections as a candidate, there were two occasions on which one of my nomination signatures was duplicated by another candidate. On both occasions, I got my nomination paper in first, and it was the other candidate or agent who had to go and get a new nomination organised.

My guess is that it was entirely intentional.

(Ok, well that actual picture is from 2015, but I was doing that exact patch today, in exactly the same weather, dressed exactly like that, but my camera wasn't working properly.)
