Mr Frampton’s nomination papers were signed by the outgoing Tory Councillor whose resignation caused the byelection. He resigned following an internal party dispute around the former Council Leader who was convicted over environmental crime issues. The assumption therefore is the Independent’s campaign will be targeting the Tories. For my sins, I’m the Labour Party agent. Expecting a turnout of around 15 - voters, not percentage…..

On the day voters may well be minimal, but I expect there will be a reasonable return of postal votes as usual. The number of those will probably determine overall turnout. You do have to wonder who thought it would be wise to have a by-election that week.

Counting on the night…am sure you’ll all be staying up for this one. Perhaps Shadsy could do a market on whether the count will go into Christmas Eve…

The Conservative candidate’s proposer is Desmond Swayne so he must live in this ward.

Importance Index | Con | Lab | LDm | Grn | New Forest (Bransgore and Burley) | 54 | 3 | | 3 |
Notes: 1. This is not a predictive index; it is attempting to assess how each party might view the importance of each seat; where, if they had the choice, they might target their efforts. 2. It is based on the strength of control (if any) of the largest party on the council, the strength of the respective party, and the vote shaer at the last election. Other criteria may be available or applicable. 3. Ratings range from 0-100.

I know we only do first tier authorities, but I thought, in the spirit of Christmas, this was worth a mention:
