As an aside, Vorderman's recent political "re-positioning" is very interesting. (a reminder that she was one of the few celebs willing to bat for the Tories back in 1997) She did something about trying to promote maths education for David Cameron as well.

Has she changed party allegiances or is it more that she’s got contempt for all politicians now?

Has she changed party allegiances or is it more that she’s got contempt for all politicians now? Surely the more obvious conclusion is that she has not changed one whit, but the bloody awful Conservative Party has given up any pretence of being in any way conservative about anything?

The detail of the article adds "male" and "formerly high-profile".

Are there any low-profile people in politics? Or even average profile? Or junior councillors, have we ever seen mention of them?

Are there any low-profile people in politics? Or even average profile? Or junior councillors, have we ever seen mention of them? There's plenty of them. But they are strangely only ever seen in other party's attack leaflets. Their natural environment is "Fancy That!" boxes. By convention they are referred to as "invisible" and "rarely seen." Many of these unfortunate creatures suffer from having large question marks or other demeaning phrases superimposed over their faces.

It's much like how almost all doctors are 'junior'. When it suits the narrative.

Isn't that because senior doctors are called "consultants'?

Yes, which is ridiculous. Not only should there be a simple 'ordinary doctor' level but most practising doctors should be it.

Most practising doctors are it; you have to have a post graduate degree, a minimum of five years work under at least three different surgeons and pass one or more of the Royal College entrance exams and interviews before you can become a surgeon.

a quick glance at the medical workforce numbers suggests that ‘junior doctors’ described however as ‘doctors in training’ are somewhat less than half the number, so not ‘most’. GPs and consultants alone equal their numbers, then there are ‘other doctors’

GPs and consultants alone equal their numbers, then there are ‘other doctors’ Junior doctors are not just those in training, they are practicing doctors under surgeon level - as I said, at least the first five years out of med school, no post grad degree, etc. My cousin has been working on the front line for approximately 12 years and only qualified as a surgeon shortly before Christmas.
