Surprisingly, the writ for this seat's by-election has not been moved yet and I have heard no further news regarding this by-election.

If the writ is moved immediately after the funeral on 23rd Nov, what’s the earliest date this could be held?

A 23rd December poll has been speculated on, which would make it the latest in the year parliamentary byelection in living memory.

Amess being laid to rest today, so maybe an announcement on the byelection this week?

...and I wish Steve all the luck in the world. Sir David was a great respecter of democracy and would not have wanted a coronation

Any whispers about the writ being served?

If it was moved now the campaign would be over Christmas and New Year, which is not ideal. I would have thought late January or early February for polling day.

The Conservative candidate is Anna Firth: Current Councillor on Sevenoaks DC. Wonder when her term of office ends.

The Conservative candidate is Anna Firth: Current Councillor on Sevenoaks DC. Wonder when her term of office ends. May 2023, since Sevenoaks DC holds full council elections every 4 years. The seat cannot be kept vacant that long though-which reminds me that there is still no news of any date for this by-election.

The Conservative candidate is Anna Firth: She looks younger than 55. She does. I’d have said 40-45 Also interesting in that article to note that the other 2 on the final shortlist were Essex based, and included the leader of neighbouring Castle Point council.

The Conservative candidate is Anna Firth: She looks younger than 55. Must be a Dorian Gray type scenario with Boris Johnson who is looking older by the day at the moment....
