As expected, the two anti-Babis electoral blocs have signed a memorandum to form the next Czech Government led by ODS leader Petr Fiala. The Czech President will want Babis to continue leading the country, but this bloc has 108 of the 200 seats in parliament making it a mathematical impossibility even if Babis' ANO goes into coalition with the far-right SPD.

STAN seems to be a generic moderately centre right rural party. Why are they aligned with the Pirates? Good question. Clear is, that ODS&KDU-CSL+TOP'09 invited STAN to participate in their alliance. But the latter refused. Initially an OnLine-poll among Pirate-members/supporters found a narrow majority against a joint venture (~44%:51%), also because many feared - prophetically - the PreferenceVotes. But PartyLeader Bartos favoured it nevertheless, posting this (inclusive an AnaLysis): forum.pirati.cz/viewtopic.php?p=721773&fbclid=IwAR1aQY2TXvmflVdSifYnK4q60QORXn3iKJg7biqLOJoilcwz1jbK_lxphOg#p721773I would hesitate to define STAN as "centre right", though: Similar to Germany's FreeVoters (FW) they are more "centrists" - different to the urban&young yuppie-Liberals.

I too was thinking of the Free Voters when I wrote it but I guess in my mind even the free voters are modestly right of centre since they’re clearly not radical.

The strategical position of the FW can be compared to the rural Lib.Dem.s: On the one hand they represent remote areas, which are clearly not the centre of wokism; on the other hand they usually win with an alliance against the dominant Tories/CSU. So FW would also attend a SPD&Greens&FDP-coalition in Bavaria and at least formerly - in their "wild" days, when they opposed the reforms of CSU's Stoiber - also one without FDP.

Prague's a beautiful city with beautiful men and I'm glad that this result anchors it in the West. Less selfishly, Czechia is one of the ancient states of Europe and I genuinely believe that it belongs at Europe's free heart. Long gone should be the days when Moscow can exert influence as far Bohemia.

Right, the result for the "Asiatic" bloc was worse than polled, but all in all not soo bad considering, that they have been in government, ANO even for 8 years. Are the Czechs really "beautiful men"? I am aware, though, that some straight men like those fastly aging Slavic women with their good-visible CheekBones.

I was mainly around young men, so perhaps I got an inaccurate impression.😅

The Czech President remains in intensive care in Prague; however, he has signed an order for the Czech Parliament to meet for the first time on November 8th which is the latest possible date he could chose under the constitution obviously hoping to delay the inevitable.
However, Babis has already announced he won't form the next government and has promised a smooth transition of power to the opposition bloc.

Doctors treating Czech President Miloš Zeman say he is physically incapable of performing his official duties and unable to name a new prime minister, Senate President Miloš Vystrčil told reporters Monday.
As a result, the Senate is working to transfer Zeman’s constitutional powers to the current prime minister, Andrej Babiš, and the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Radek Vondráček, a member of Babiš’s ANO movement.

Fiala now PM. And, yes, the pic is real. Zeman is in a box. I didn’t realise Zeman was out of hospital. Did he come out specifically for the occasion? They might have wheeled him out to do his constitutional duty even if he was in the other sort of box.
