There's guaranteed to be a left wing candidate in the final round. Macron is a socialist after all...

Philippe de Villiers has announced his support for Zemmour. He's pretty strong meat but he's a comparatively mainstream figure (and infamously coined the phrase "Polish plumber").
For some reason, this happened this weekend whilst the two of them were in, of all places, Armenia.

Armenia has long been, for the far-right, a symbol of the oppression of christians by muslims.
It's as simple as that.

The kind of thing Macron talks about but then doesn't really follow through with for the fear of being labelled far right.

Christiane Taubira (former government minister for Justice during the Hollande presidency, former candidate at the 2002 presidential election - 2,32% - supported by center-left PRG, former MP for Guyane - she was encouraged to present her candidacy by Lionel Jospin who hoped to cut some momentum from Jean-Pierre Chevènement; her 2% was what Jospin needed to get to the second round) is saying officially she could be a candidate for the united left.
She is very center-left (she supported the Balladur cabinet in 1993 when she was first elected an MP for her small party Walwari, was elected an MEP with Bernard Tapie in 1994) but is absurdly seen by media and political officials and activists as "very left-wing" just because she was the minister in charge of the same-sex marriage law. She also resigned from government 2 months after Hollande talked about deprivation of nationality as a response to terrorism.

Which goes much against the grain of the narrative that this is a sinister far-right approach (as does the fact that it exists in the constitution of a number of European nations).

That LeftLiberals are on these issues to the left of the LabourParties what means: on the far left - is nothing new, is it? And anyWay: Already for our maiores in the 1950ies - let alone eras before or other cultures - SameSex-"marriage" would have been beyond left-extremism - it would have been simply crazy.

The latest polls all seem to show La Pécresse overtaking MLP for the run-off position, within a percent however.
Latest Opinion Way poll (does anyone know them?) Macron 24, Pécresse 17, Le Pen 16, Zemmour 12, Melenchon 9.

What has been the lowest vote share for the top two candidates in the first round? This time it could fairly easily be below 40 per cent.
