Also notable that Hidalgo has that many backers given her now subterranean polling levels.

Yesterday, new publication of "parrains" and both Fabien Roussel (PCF) and Jean Lassalle have reached 500. Jadot (EELV) will problably get them tuesday. There will probably be only four more candidates: Mélenchon, Le Pen, Zemmour and Dupont-Aignan, in my opinion. It will be the first time since 1995 that only one trotskyst candidate qualified. With 11 candidates, it wouldn't be such a big crowd, with no too unknown candidates. The "little candidates" (Arthaud, Lassalle, Dupont-Aignan) were already candidates last time. And in any case, if Asselineau or Poutou manage to qualify, both of them were already candidates last time as well. With Taubira, there could therefore be three former candidates who didn't succeed in qualifying (she was candidate in 2002).
PÉCRESSE Valérie: 1945 (+121) MACRON Emmanuel: 1345 (+85) HIDALGO Anne: 1074 (+67) ARTHAUD Nathalie: 529 (+20) ROUSSEL Fabien: 529 (+37) LASSALLE Jean: 503 (+32)
JADOT Yannick: 490 (+40) DUPONT-AIGNAN Nicolas: 379 (+19) MÉLENCHON Jean-Luc: 370 (+38) LE PEN Marine: 366 (+35) ZEMMOUR Éric: 291 (+41) ASSELINEAU François: 217 (+7) POUTOU Philippe: 199 (+11) KAZIB Anasse: 122 (+6)
TAUBIRA Christiane: 86 (+13) THOUY Hélène: 74 (+4) KUZMANOVIC Georges: 38 (+3) KOENIG Gaspard: 31 (+3) EGGER Clara: 16 (+3) MIGUET Nicolas: 12 (=)

And where in the world did Jacques Cheminade routinely find 500 signatures? Plenty of parrains have been willing to sign for anyone without asking. In 2007, a chap called Gérard Schivardi managed to get a load of mayors to vote for him and ran under the slogan "le candidat de maires". Plenty of these mayors assumed they were voting for a counterpart not the Trot choice for president.

He was, but he was less than honest about his platform and backers. And had to change his slogan after the association of mayors complained.

The Times is reporting that Marine Le Pen is openly worrying she will not get to 500 parrainages by the deadline, a fear apparently shared by Éric Zemmour.
The totals haven't been updated since the weekend.

Whether it's also a realistic worry is what we want to know but don't.

Has Macron actually officially announced he’s running yet?

Does he need to officially declare? I don't know what the process is but if he's got the supporter signatures (and if there's a particular consent for her needs to sign, does so), wouldn't he just appear on the ballot paper?

Interesting to consider the likely result if only the 5 declared candidates to have received the necessary parrainages were to make it to the ballot paper:
Nathalie Arthaud (LO) Anne Hidalgo (PS) Jean Lassalle (Res) Valérie Pécresse (LR) Fabien Roussel (PCF)
Would it be a Hidalgo-Pécresse run-off, and if so who would triumph?

Since Lassalle is a nonentity with virtually no support, how come he can get 500 nominations so easily?

I don't know what the process is but if he's got the supporter signatures (and if there's a particular consent for her needs to sign, does so), wouldn't he just appear on the ballot paper? The Conseil has to make sure the candidates are willing (they probably just contact them to do that) and the candidate has to send to the Conseil a "déclaration de situation patrimoniale, une déclaration d'intérêts et d'activités", which is a list of all their lands assets, bank accounts, sources of income and so on.
