One thing overlooked for Cleadon and East Boldon is that it voted remain during the referendum (or at least very nearly did) compared to the rest of the wards which was strongly leave. South Tyneside released ward figures. Also I remember back in the late 90s helping in a by-election here which the Lib Dems won.

I am going to bed thought that South Derbyshire would be trouble as never replied to my requests on the count. I had to email the Leader for my question and he said they where counting tonight

One of the Parish Councils in South Derbyshire has posted
Following yesterday’s Local Authority election Amy Wheelton has been re-elected to represent the Seales Ward on South Derbyshire District Council.
She will represent us along with District Councillor Simon Ackroyd and County Councillor Stuart Swann, both elected in May.

So independent win, thought she'd do wellish but not well enough to win

I hadn’t realised she had been ill. I think that would certainly have made voters more forgiving towards her standing in her own by election than had she just changed her mind.

Pretty poor week for the blue team if that South Derbyshire result is confirmed. Losing Killamarsh, sneaking through in Cleadon and E Boldon due to split opposition, losing Seales and no progress elsewhere (but holding their very safe Derbyshire seat.) Not convinced that it's all due to social care - but over the last month the Tory polling has been under 40 again and again and these results perhaps validate some of what we've seen over the past few weeks. More Raab than National Insurance perhaps.

Increased the share in 2 out of 6. I think the next few weeks could be considerably worse for them.

Although they've only got 1 defence in the next couple of weeks, but the last week of September will be the one to watch - quite a few Tory defences that (most of them should be on paper relatively safe, but if people are feeling really pissed off, then could be one to watch).

Has there ever been a result non-release worse than this one? Is there a connection with the actual result, i.e. who won?

Assuming that she did win she's got some opinions. www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/local-news/leadership-white-old-male-says-5045445It's rather pointed that she only has regard for 3 of the men pictured. The local Tories are very fractious and I'd have a strong bet that the Tory is the one she doesn't respect. In my experience it's a pretty "officer" council with modest ideological differences 20 years ago, only slightly sharpened more recently. And older, white men are the norm (though there was a Labour woman leader about 15 years ago).
