Not if you've ever heard of Wilmslow it isn't.

Also note that the administration is Labour-led but includes all the local residents' groups, of which Residents of Wilmslow is one. Labour don't want to piss them off by competing for votes with them, and splitting the vote/costing them the seat would be extremely counterproductive.

Ah, I never realised that Blackstone Edge, one of my favourite walks within 20 minutes drive, is in Ryburn Ward!

The point about Ryburn ward having a lot of workers in the financial industry was interesting. But I think that's less because the area has a commuter demographic (to Leeds or Manchester anyway) - instead I think the reason is closer to home.

After all, Ryburn has the sixth highest proportion of financial workers in Yorkshire, but all of the five wards above it are also in Calderdale. Even Park ward is in the top 15% nationally by this measure. So my guess is that this is a Halifax thing - I wouldn't have expected the Halifax bank to be such an important local employer, but clearly it is based on these numbers.

That's a very good point which I had forgotten about. The old Halifax Building Society was a massive local employer.
