Yes. I saw that thread and thought 'Wot?' What the Woden is happening to us? It is one of a number of threads I not only have zero interest in but don't even understand. The world seems to be going even more insane each day. But even more amazing is the fact some of you seem interested in the madness. It is like the daily quotes about what some black foreign know-thing women has to say on various issues. Why quote it? Who bloody cares? Well !! It seems some of you do. Why?? Well, as the man who wrote the posts you're condemning, I'm interested in foreign affairs/international relations personally. Always have been, and many on the forum also feel the same way. The Kingdom of eSwatini is the last absolute monarchy in Africa. It is extremely autocratic, impoverished and has many of the trappings of a tribal society. Yet, simultaneously, it is also trying to make its way in a modern world where, as a species, we are exploring the furthest reaches of the solar system and where we're building machines that live in the blood stream. It is also surrounded almost entirely by South Africa, which, for all its faults, is a wealthy and sophisticated modern democracy. That kind of quirk of history, and the conflicts and tensions it causes, also interests me. YAWN !

Have you not had your afternoon nap yet Carlton? (and I speak as someone who often does have an afternoon nap) No. And a hot day too. In Italy I loved a long siesta. Been to the picture framers at Hillsborough, The University Arms for chip buttie and pint of Third Degree, WH Smiths for disappointment, M&S for wine, fruit, cream and other treats, then back on hot bus at school going home time! Got me 'bang to rights'.

It never fails to amaze me how many members can't count to 100 and can't transpose a set of initials without help and advice, week after week after week. And we carp and criticize at the incompetence of politicians with real problems. It never fails to amaze me how intolerant of the errors of others you can be. For a start members here are often entering these competitions as a bit of fun, knowing nothing of significance happens if they mess up, so their attention is only partially on this while the rest stays on the things that really matter. On the other hand politicians are dealing with real problems, as you say, matters of life and death for other people sometimes, and they are being paid handsomely for their efforts whether that's financially or in terms of the attention they crave. It sometimes seems they are more taken up with their own needs of the moment, like satisfying the requirements of their mistresses, or whtever. So of course we carp. It's a big fish. On the issue of failing to add up to 100, I was guilty of that only last week in the normal weekly competition, when I managed to add up to 103 in one entry. Being old fashioned, I like to make my entries initially into a notebook. Pen and paper, nothing like it, and that's the stage I make the effort. My entry of course added up to 100 there. But then I have the boring job of transposing those onto the computer late at night, and so on the very last touch my finger slipped and and I didn't notice. So what? It didn't matter very much after all. Two amazed old men. Good to still be capable of amazement. I didn't read past the workd amazed. Liked it up to that point though.

I made my prediction on a ward-by-ward basis because I thought that by doing that I was less likely to suffer from the "this is the result I want instead of the result I think is most likely" effect which I find is always a problem when making predictions unless you have no political views whatsoever. I find I often try to make my prediction the reverse of the one I most want. That way, whichever way it falls there's still something to be cheerful about.

I have taken RJ to mean Rejoin EU and EU to mean English Democrats please confirm or deny.
Additionally it adds up to 102.3%, you may wan to redo before deadline of close of poll.
I said I was no bloody good!
I'll have another go:
LAB 37.8 CON 36.9 GAL 9.7 YP 4.0 LD 3.7 UKIP 1.6 SDP 1.0 IND 1.0 CPA 0.9 FB 0.9 AGS 0.8 FRE 0.6 HP 0.4 EDEM 0.3 LOON 0.3 RJEU 0.2
Excel say that adds up to 100.1 sirbenjamin and my adding agrees.

That sounds like an interesting way of doing it, if a little involved. Who did you have ahead in each ward?

I've done the ward thing sometimes if its an area I know relatively well but I have never found it that effective. For my Chesham & Amersham prediction I did break the total down by ward to see how plausible it looked. It did look plausible but of course was completely wrong

I decided to break with long tradition and make an entry... In SOPN order (and it is copied and pasted from Excel, so it does add up to 100%)

My understanding is that he was inside the prediction thread at the time of polls closing so I'll allow it, though as not all parties have been predicted the penalties may be heavy.
So I'm not sure I'm being nice in accepting it.

I have counted this as Yorkshire 1.1 Green Socialist 0.9 others not predicted and subject to competition penalties.
