Peter Price, the extremely long standing Labour councillor for Shiregreen & Brightside ward in Sheffield You would hope that someone of his experience might at least know better.

doesn't always follow. In my experience, most of the nastiest antisemitism I've encountered in the Labour Party has been from people even older than me. Including a former parliamentary candidate from the 1979 general election who has since died. There were one or two whom my colleagues & I hesitated to report to the party's disciplinary body because they were so old, including that particular character, who I think was suspended before he passed away. His antisemitism was at a fairly advanced level.

He took down his twitter account, so we can't check what he retweeted (the concerned posts were retweets). He is saying he is "very distraught about what is happening in Gaza" and that "he was not of the opinion the posts were anti-semitic". Which may not be the case (his opinion and the reality can be two different things). He was set to retire at May's locals anyway.

Nooooo! Surely the building will fall down without him around. The last County Borough councillor left on SCC I beleive.

Well if it does it's entirely his own fault.

Possibly premature but one Bradford Labour Councillor voted against their budget tonight (I think Julie Lintern of Keighley West but it caught me by surprise so I’m not 100% sure) so I would expect she will face some sanction

Well Robin Hood would have approved, presumably… Did he want higher taxes on widows and disabled children?

Des Hughes, Labour councillor for Kingstanding (Birmingham) has been suspended over a conflict of interest over continuing to be paid for working for an education service for some months after being elected. Birmingham standards Committee has condemned his actions in fairly strong terms. Will post the link to the story later. He is the brother of Eddie Hughes, Tory MP for Walsall North, which I hadn't realised

I remember Eddie Hughes saying he had a Labour family, but didn't realise he had elected Labour people in it at present.

Making the Mansfield Independents the formal opposition then.

Michael Foot advised voters to vote for his brother Dingle, the liberal candidate in a neighbouring constituency.
For the Tory party to suspend a member for supporting her husband is a shameful rejection of family values and the institution of marriage.

Michael Foot advised voters to vote for his brother Dingle, the liberal candidate in a neighbouring constituency. For the Tory party to suspend a member for supporting her husband is a shameful rejection of family values and the institution of marriage. There was an incident a few years back when a Conservative councillor was suspended (or possibly expelled) for signing her UKIP husband's nomination papers for a council election.
