Interesting. I kind of assumed the Lib Dem defectors would have all left by now.

Interesting. I kind of assumed the Lib Dem defectors would have all left by now. They have not. I know, for example, that Antoinette Sandbach remains very supportive.

Interesting. I kind of assumed the Lib Dem defectors would have all left by now. What does "top of the party's candidate list" mean ? I've been involved in a parliamentary by-election and at no stage was there a ranked list. List of applicants; long list selected by the local executive; short list (those from the long list who survived scrutiny by HQ); selection by members. Has that changed?

Journalistic invention, sounds more exciting than "included in the list". Maybe he's made it to the short list, that is all. And it is hung around an article on Guido Fawkes. Draw your own conclusions.

Don't you have STV in your selections? I thought you did.

I believe that Luciana Berger, who for my money would be the most likely to leave, recently spoke at the Scottish Lib Dem conference.

Don't you have STV in your selections? I thought you did. Almost certainly yes, but it wasn't required in our case.

Don't you have STV in your selections? I thought you did. Yes for normal selections. I've not been involved in a by-election but almost certainly yes for that too.

Is he still involved? Amazing how he has practically disappeared from public view given his prominence only a few years ago.

Philip Lee is I believe originally from Buckinghamshire and his father was a Conservative councillor on Wycombe District Council until recently. I believe he has also left the Party.

What's interesting is that if ex MPs are going for it, it looks like we are having a really good crack at it

Don't you have STV in your selections? I thought you did. How can you have STV to select a single candidate? That would be AV.

I don't think that Scottish council by-elections bother to split hairs over it. It's a preference system, whatever you call it.
