It should be pointed out that the "name inflation" in Hull is simply a consequence of having two constituencies crossing the tightly drawn city boundary rather than one.
The Leeds names are an improvement when it comes to describing the constituencies, though if the BCE had been prepared to adopt the "Leeds Headingley", "Leeds Morley" etc. style they could have been more concise. Going back to "Ossett & Denby Dale" is also an improvement, with apologies to Sandal, and I think "Wakefield & Rothwell" describes the constituency better, and Rothwell has a long history of being mentioned in constituency names, for those who care about that.
That leaves two changes I wouldn't have made: the addition of "Knottingley" and the expansion of "Axholme" to "the Isle of Axholme". So overall I don't mind the name changes here.

Doesn't mean we have a "Norwich South and New Costessey" and a "Norwich North and Sprowston", or a "Bristol North East and Kingswood", etc.

Yorkshire and the Humber region has the same number (54) of constituencies after the review. Only two constituencies are completely unchanged: Bradford West, and Scarborough and Whitby. Three more constituencies have had boundary changes involving no electors: Keighley and Ilkley (renamed from Keighley), Penistone and Stocksbridge, and Shipley. Two current constituencies are not the base for any new constituency: * Brigg and Goole (32.6% to Goole and Pocklington, 27.9% to Doncaster East and Isle of Axholme, 21.7% to Brigg and Immingham, 17.8% to Scunthorpe) * Leeds West (49.4% to Leeds West and Pudsey, 26.2% to Leeds South West and Morley, 24.4% to Leeds Central and Headingley) Two current constituencies are the base for two new constituencies: * Pudsey is 52.1% of Leeds West and Pudsey, and 51.8% of Leeds North West * Wakefield is 53.7% of Ossett and Denby Dale, and 43.2% of the new Wakefield The Index of Change in all altered constituencies is: Constituency | Index of Change | Leeds North East BC | 0.0 | Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough BC | 1.4 | Bradford East BC | 2.1 | Bradford South BC | 2.3 | Calder Valley CC | 3.6 | Halifax BC | 4.0 | York Outer CC | 4.7 | York Central BC | 4.7 | Sheffield Hallam CC | 5.7 | Skipton and Ripon CC | 5.8 | Harrogate and Knaresborough CC | 6.2 | Rother Valley CC | 8.6 | Doncaster North CC | 8.9 | Beverley and Holderness CC | 10.6 | Sheffield South East BC | 10.9 | Richmond and Northallerton CC | 12.6 | Doncaster Central CC | 13.5 | Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley CC | 14.0 | Colne Valley CC | 15.6 | Scunthorpe CC | 18.8 | Kingston upon Hull East BC | 18.8 | Sheffield Central BC | 21.1 | Rotherham BC | 22.9 | Huddersfield BC | 24.6 | Thirsk and Malton CC | 29.6 | Normanton and Hemsworth CC | 29.9 | Bridlington and the Wolds CC | 31.1 | Sheffield Heeley BC | 33.1 | Kingston upon Hull West and Haltemprice BC | 34.4 | Leeds East CC | 37.7 | Leeds South BC | 38.3 | Barnsley North CC | 38.6 | Kingston upon Hull North and Cottingham BC | 47.3 | Selby CC | 48.2 | Leeds South West and Morley BC | 55.5 | Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes BC | 55.8 | Barnsley South CC | 61.4 | Spen Valley BC | 62.9 | Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme CC | 65.2 | Brigg and Immingham CC | 65.8 | Rawmarsh and Conisbrough CC | 67.0 | Dewsbury and Batley BC | 79.6 | Ossett and Denby Dale CC | 92.5 | Leeds West and Pudsey BC | 95.9 | Leeds North West CC | 96.6 | Goole and Pocklington CC | 100.2 | Wetherby and Easingwold CC | 109.9 | Leeds Central and Headingley BC | 112.8 | Wakefield and Rothwell BC | 114.2 |
