I don't think the Trumpists should be going down this route. As an attack line, it's reprehensible and could backfire given Trump's own personal life. Yeah, but Americans are mental so will probably care about stupid shit like this. They still think believing in God is an integral thing for a President. Insane.

Perhaps he meant to have said "Not given birth" rather than "No children", because she does have children. Two, in fact.

As far as I know not a single US President has ever given birth, so making that a prerequisite for being President would be a dramatic policy shift. I don’t understand this thinking that only people with children can possibly care about the future of the country. Thank goodness we don’t entertain such ridiculous debates here (as Andrea Leadsom found to her cost in 2016).

The sort of stunning rhetoric which saw JD Vance massively underperform the Republican ticket in Ohio in 2022. I have listened to that four times and I still can’t get what he said. “I (something) mountain (something) the other day”. What did he say? I've finally worked out what he said after listening to it a few times. "I had a Diet Mountain Dew yesterday, and one today, I'm sure they're going to call that racist too, but..."

The retooled campaign has raised 46 million dollars in 7 hours. That's more than the original version (including in 2020) raised in any single day. The donors are clearly back on board. I've read that Pelosi forced Biden out not just through orchestrating Congressional defections and threatening to go public herself (which did seem to be the case) but also through strangling fundraising for the campaign. So a large chunk of this money may not have been sitting around because the funders were independently worried about Biden but because they were actively in strike. And so this is the money "returning to work". If true this is a dazzling display of backroom power.

Don't think that's possible to organise even for Pelosi.

If the numbers hold then she's got the nomination.
They fannied about sorting out Biden, but this has been slick.

I see the Republican fringe narrative has become "Biden has been removed in a coup". ("Coup" is trending on Twitter - it's a more unhinged hashtag than you'll see in a while). It's a classic piece of DARVO, because although it's absurd and obviously nonsense, and although no serious Republicans will entertain is (for now...) the narrative clouds the very real attempt by Trump to overturn an election to stay in power, and of course sets the scene for if - against all odds - the Democrats win the next election. The GOP cranks are already saying there'll be a "civil war" if they lose: thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4786515-gop-jd-vance-ohio-trump-2024-civil-war/In a sense it's a positive here that I expect Trump to win fair & square anyway, as it's increasingly clear he wouldn't accept a loss peacefully. The biggest man-baby the world has ever seen is going to get his extra milk and biscuit anyway so we'll be spared the violent tantrum. PS I've got to say that Biden could have prevented all this coup nonsense by appearing in person repeatedly over the last few days. It's very silly of him to go to ground at such a critical time.

Occasionally I have heard or read arguments from homophobic people along the same lines. “Gay people don’t have children or grandchildren, so they don’t have a stake in caring about the future in 100 years time” (or words to that effect)

And, for all we know there may have been a Transpotus capable of childbirth.

It’s even worse than that. He didn’t say “dew”; he said “doo” because Americans still haven’t learnt to speak properly.
