You might be surprised at the number of Yes posters in windows in Morningside then. I just had a horrendous image of a Scottish state entirely run from Morningside. A £300 pair of Church's brogues gently pressing on a man's face forever.

It has become not dissimilar to Marchmont and Bruntsfield with younger professionals and a fair number of students taking their place.

To be honest I didn't know about the "Morningside Ladies" stereotype. I worked there last year and was just struck by how pretentious the place was- no obvious bakery but a Konditorei, a pub where the landlord banned denim, a sports shop that only sold hockey and lacrosse gear. My (Scotttish) colleagues and I went out and were surprised by the general hipster/smug environment, nice place it is though and with some decent pubs. But every time I hear that Scotland is a grittier, more proletarian place than England, I think of Morningside!

Wow. Goes to show how fragmented the country is on the question.

That will presumably be a model-based map using poll breakdowns? Not uninteresting, but I suspect actual patterns might differ in places.

The Konditorei was more or less at the top of my street, and probably my favourite place there. The whole area is comically la-di-da, though a pleasure to canvass. I think I prefer Leith as a place to live overall though.

They'll be using some sort of statistical model, presumably based on census figures and perhaps election results (i.e. SNP percentages).

It'll be based on some sort of statistical model using demographics so that responses in similar areas have an effect too: the details aren't given but the Guardian do say Parts of Dumfries and Galloway actually seem to have quite high figures.

Nice map. As I would have expected it seems the deer and the trees are solidly 'No'! Good to see Torridon a nice rich blue.

The Konditorei is actually in Bruntsfield - MOrningside has a Greggs, a Goodfellow and Stephens and a private bakery (not to mention the Waitrose, M&S and Sainsburys ones). The sport shop probably does almost all its business to pupils at George Watsons and Uni Students. As to the pub, I take it that was the Canny Man which is, shall we say, its own place.
